I'm going to learn a new song each day.
I have decided to do this because I often want to practice, but can't decide what to practice. So far this has proven more difficult than I anticipated. Learning a song is one thing, but recording it is a whole other thing. I can know a song and not have to perform it perfectly right away. In the past when I've learned a tune, time would pass and then I would call it with a group of musicians. When everyone else is playing it, if I don't remember it perfectly what they play would remind me. Solo sax is a little more difficult.
The rules:
•Learn a tune (or practice a tune I've forgotten or should know better.)
•Record it. Preferably without a backing track. If I can play it well solo, it'll be so easy with a rhythm section.
It's likely that I won't be able to keep it up everyday as I often have full days of teaching, gigs, tours and life in general to get in the way. Wish me luck!
